“Ethics, Privacy, and Legal on Vintrospective.com”

– A Play in One Act –

Scene: Clandestine wine bar

*Characters: Dr. Robert, The Walrus

Dr. Robert:  Walrus, do tell me about the new guy at Vintrospective.

The Walrus:  He writes about Italian wines and producers which reflect the unique spirit of Italian winemaking. Vintrospective doesn’t score wines and doesn’t publish negative comments about wines or producers.

Dr. Robert:  Are Wine Prices available on the Vintrospective site?

The Walrus:  No specific reference to wine price is given.  A ” $ ” is used to indicate general price range… ” $ ” for under $25, ” $$ ” for $25 - $50, and then “$$$” for $50 and up.  It helps readers to match wines to what they can spend.

Dr. Robert:  Does Vintrospective accept Wine Samples?

The Walrus:  Yes, Vintrospective accepts wine samples just like the rest of us.  He may write about the wine, producer, or both, but only if he has a positive opinion. Vintrospective accepts Book Samples, too, but only books specifically about Italian wine, food, culture, or tourism. To send wine or book samples, please send email to BusinessManager @Vintrospective.com for shipping instructions.  Blog posts always Disclose if the post is about a wine or book that has been received as a sample.

Dr. Robert:  Will Vintrospective give Product Endorsements?

The Walrus:  If he has used a product and believes it to be great, he is quite happy to endorse it.  Money is never accepted for a product endorsement.

Dr. Robert:  Does Vintrospective attend Trade Events?

The Walrus:  Yes, trade events do provide access to the people and wines that Vintrospective is interested in writing about.  Passes to trade events are accepted and sometimes requested.

Dr. Robert:  What about Advertising on Vintrospective?

The Walrus:  Vintrospective accepts advertisements on the site only if there are no conflict of interest connections. Advertising from wineries, producers, or companies that own them is never accepted. Vintrospective will accept advertising from companies promoting Italian tourism, living, culture, food, and even the wines of a particular region is accepted, providing there are no ties to wineries, producers or companies which own them.

Dr. Robert:  Drat! This guy is really beginning to twist my cork! I am considering to post something very unpleasant on his site, Walrus.

The Walrus:  Vintrospective welcomes diverse opinion but only if offered with tolerance, respect, and good taste. Comment postings on the Vintrospective site are Moderated - rudeness, personal attacks, self promotions, etc., are quickly deleted.

Dr. Robert:  Does Vintrospective respect Privacy?

The Walrus:  The Word Press blogging platform requires an email address from anyone leaving a comment.  Email Addresses are not sold, stored, or put to any other use. And check this, out, Doctor - a Legal Notice:
