#barbera2 Takes Off : May 14th 2011
Posted By Joel on May 10, 2011
The wine event known as #barbera2 – a grass roots wine “happening” dedicated to discovery and understanding of the Barbera vine and its terroir – is scheduled to kick off this weekend on May 14th, 2011 at Nizza Monferrato in Italy’s Piedmont.
#barbera2 organizers plan to stream the event live beginning at 9.30am CEST, URL http://tinyurl.com/6drdk56.
The #barbera2 project, which takes its name from a social media hashtag convention, will feature 10 different producers of Barbera wines representing different Barbera terroirs.
Sharing the tasting table will be 10 different Barbera wines – 5 from Italy, 5 from the west coast of North America - bringing together different wine traditions and cultures.
A thread of special interest woven throughout the day’s agenda will be the opportunity to hear from passionate, influential women of wine and food who will be on hand to share their points of view.
The #barbera2 event uniquely features a format of “no winners or losers” that eschews wine scores, opting instead for unscripted dialog among #barbera2 participants who are encouraged to express opinions in an atmosphere valuing freedom of thought.
#barbera2 will play to a sold-out crowd, attended by giornalists, sommeliers, bloggers, producers, artists and appassionati.
